Jingwei Geosynthetic Bentonite Clay Liner (GCL), is manufactured from natural sodium bentonite to international standards. This advanced waterproofing membrane is made by interlocking a uniform layer of high swelling natural sodium bentonite between two high strength geotextiles.

Using fine American needles, fibres from the upper non-woven geotextile are punched through a layer of bentonite granules and into the sulzer woven polypropylene carrier fabric beneath. This process results in a uniform, shear resistant, waterproof liner with self-sealing characteristics.

Applications:
Jingwei GCL delivers superior hydraulic performance over conventional compacted clay barriers. When hydrated with water, the bentonite clay forms a low permeability gel layer well suited for landfill base lining, landfill caps and closures, backfilled walls, grain storage, liquid containment bunds, cut off trenches, effluent ponds, dams, lagoons and tunnels. This Geosynthetic Clay Liner has been used in major projects in China, Europe, South America, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and Australia.
Landfill sites: Geosynthetic Clay Liners have been used for more than 40 years to provide a reliable waterproof barrier to prevent infiltration to underlying waste. GCLs are installed more quickly than traditional clay barriers, especially when the closure is many hectares in size. Because they are manufactured under quality controlled conditions Geosynthetic Clay Liners are more consistent and able to ensure the closure meets or exceeds the design requirements.
Construction: Geosynthetic Clay Liners can be installed in virtually any weather and onto uncured concrete making it ideal for waterproofing under slab and at property line applications. When used in construction applications, natural sodium bentonite’s swelling action can self-seal small concrete cracks caused by ground settlement, concrete shrinkage or seismic action. During installation a strong mechanical bond is formed when wet concrete solidifies around the fabric fibres. The waterproof membrane can be installed directly over a properly prepared substrate without the need of a concrete mud slab.
For applications such as sub-basement waterproofing; where a barrier against gas and radon is required; where the erosion of bentonite must be prevented; and where protection against root penetration is needed, Jingwei uses proprietary technology to bond a polyethylene (PE) membrane to the GCL. PE bonded GCL provides an additional barrier to liquid migration and ensures that the bentonite clay remains hydrated over time. The bonded PE layer also increases the pull-out resistance and the internal shear strength of the GCL.
